For this special php programming project, a custom WordPress plugin was developed for a local, residential well water testing firm. The firm has a WordPress website that is maintained in-house.
A two-pronged solution was provided in the single WordPress plugin. The plugin works in the WordPress admin area (Dashboard) as well as on several public-facing web pages. The admin area has functionality for staff to keep the on-line information up to date, and the public facing area has functionality for website visitors to learn what they need to do to meet ‘code’ for their well – whether they already own the property where the well is located, plan to install the well on property they own, or are purchasing new property that has a well. Results change depending on that criteria as well as on the state and the city/town location of the property.
WordPress Dashboard: On demand, a staff member uses the custom plugin to upload the latest city/state well water regulations from an Excel spreadsheet.
Public-Facing Website: The Private Well Regulations page prompts visitors to select information related to their “well situation”. It passes the info to a third program that considers the combination of info from the visitor’s responses and displays the regulations pertinent to their well situation. Regulations change per city/town, state, the status of the well (existing or new), and the status of the property (purchasing, selling, living).
The Private Well Regulations page is particularly useful for real estate agents working with clients who are buying and selling properties.
